Department of Health, Western Sky Community Care, and New Mexico United unite to offer COVID-19 vaccinations at home games

May 12, 2021 by Mescalero Apache Tribe

Fans getting their first shot get vouchers for future matches

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) announces what may be the best assist to score a goal, ever. New Mexico United, Western Sky Community Care and the NMDOH will be providing COVID-19 vaccinations every home game starting at this Saturday’s season opener at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park.

Vaccinations will be available for up to 150 ticketholders to the May 15th match in the New Mexico United tailgate lot. Western Sky Community Care will be dispensing Pfizer vaccine and ticketholders receiving their first COVID-19 vaccination will get a voucher for a free ticket for a future New Mexico United match. Attendees can pre-register for their vaccination ahead of time at VaccineNM.org, but no appointment is necessary.

The team effort all goes toward the goal of fully vaccinating 60 percent of eligible New Mexicans against COVID-19.

“Sixty percent fully vaccinated will help us put this virus in its place – and reopen our state,” said Department of Health Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins. “But it’s not going to be possible without a lot of focused and dedicated people teaming up by getting vaccinated.”

“New Mexico is employing every possible effort to bring vaccines to the community and make getting vaccinated as easy as possible,” said Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. “I thank Peter Trevisani, Western Sky Community Care, and the entire New Mexico United family for their commitment to protecting the health and safety of New Mexicans. By getting vaccinated against COVID-19, we can all help move our state forward.”

Fan vaccinations – like all COVID-19 vaccinations – are free of charge and are being made available on a walk-up basis. Attendees who receive their first COVID-19 vaccination at one of these events can then schedule a follow-up appointment to receive their second vaccination at a later date. Attendees may have the opportunity to schedule their follow-up appointment at a future United match if scheduling allows. More information on COVID-19 is available online at https://cv.nmhealth.org/. Also, protect yourself and your family by activating NMNotify, the state’s COVID-19 exposure notification system, on your Android or iPhone. For instructions visit https://NMNotify.com.
