Introduction Of Our New Tribal Council:

We are excited to announce the formation of our new Tribal Council, a dedicated group of individuals committed to serving our community and upholding our traditions. This council embodies our shared values, vision, and the spirit of collaboration that defines our tribe.

Councilman Clyde Dave Jr, Councilman Christie La Paz Jr, Councilwoman Krystal Enjady, and Councilwoman Dorlynn Simmons have been chosen for their leadership skills, community involvement, and deep understanding of our cultural heritage. Together, they will work to address the needs of our community, promote our interests, and ensure that our voices are heard at every level.

ROAD CONDITIONS:

Due to the severe snowstorm currently affecting our area, we strongly discourage all non- essential travel on highways and local roads. Conditions are hazardous, with reduced visibility and slippery surfaces posing significant risks to drivers. Highway 70 going towards Alamogordo and the Ruidoso area’s are snowpacked and icy road conditions. TRAVEL IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED.

FREE SPRAY/NEUTER CLINIC:

This is a friendly reminder about the upcoming Free Spray and Neuter Clinic happening in our community tomorrow Friday (01-10-25) starting at 7:30 am and the last intake is at 2:30pm. PLEASE NO FOOD FOR THE DOGS/CATS AFTER MIDNIGHT. This clinic is an excellent opportunity for pet owners to help reduce the number of unwanted animals and promote responsible pet owners. Services will be provided at no cost, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this initiative. Please ensure that your pets are in a leash or in a carrier. If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to reach out to the Mescalero Conservation Office at 575-464-9323.

A word from the Mescalero Gas Company

our propane delivery services are experiencing temporary limitations. The safety of the Mescalero Gas Company and the reliability of our service are our top priorities, and appreciate your understanding during this challenging weather.

If you are in need of propane, please reach out to the Mescalero Gas Company, we will do our best to accommodate your needs as conditions permit. We encourage everyone to prepare accordingly and to stay safe during this winter weather.

A message from the Housing Department:

The Housing Department will have half of the maintenance crew working regular hours through Sunday January 12, 2025. We are expecting snow and cold weather during this time. We are ensure that we have a crew readily available to respond to emergency work orders including frozen and busted waterlines. The rest of the office will be closed. Homeless Shelter:

As we face the onset of winter weather, we want to remind everyone of the importance of supporting our local homeless shelter. Many individuals and families are seeking refuge from the harsh conditions, our shelter provides a warm, safe space for those in need. It is open and will be open for the next seven days starting Wednesday (01-08-25) till Wednesday (01-15-25).

Mescalero Apache Tribe are providing cots, blankets, essentials and food for those utilizing the shelter. We would like to thank the Mescalero Reformed Church Church for graciously hosting the shelter. The church is located at:
