PLEASE BE AWARE:

July 20, 2026 by Mescalero Apache Tribe

Drivers heading to Ruidoso via Highway 70 are advised to exercise extreme caution due to flash flooding in the Salt Scar burn area. Significant debris is affecting the roadway, and active flooding conditions are present.

Current Actions:

• Bear and Fence Canyon crews are on site managing the situation.

Safety Recommendations:

• Reduce speed and remain vigilant for sudden water flow across the road.

• Avoid driving through flooded areas; water depth can be deceptive.

• If possible, consider alternate routes and stay alert for updates on road conditions.

Your safety is our top priority. Conditions can change rapidly in burn-scar areas after heavy rainfall. Please stay safe and informed!
