This message provides an updated weather briefing for Ruidoso and surrounding areas, as a winter system is expected to affect the region from late tonight through Monday evening. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 11:00 PM tonight through 11:00 PM Monday for portions of Lincoln County, the South Central Mountains, and the Chaves County Plains.
Snow showers are expected to develop after 2:00 AM, with the main snowfall window from late Monday morning through early afternoon. Forecast snowfall totals for the Ruidoso area are expected to range from 1–3 inches, with locally higher amounts (4–6 inches) possible at elevations above 7,000 feet. Conditions are expected to improve on Tuesday as the system moves out of the area.
