ALAMOGORDO – The Otero County Soil and Water Conservation District held their annual legislative and conservation awards luncheon Wednesday and discussed results of brackish water projects.
Mescalero resident Thomas Mendez won the 2016 Conservationist of the Year for his work in conservation on Mescalero Apache land in Otero County.
“Thomas Mendez is an integral part of getting conservation on the ground in over 560,000 acres on Mescalero Apache land in Otero County,” Tafoya said. “For the past two years he has also been a member of the Otero County Soil and Water Conservation District.”
